En cherchant la relève de Beauty et Wonder, j'ai eu la chance de tomber sur un magnifique chiot tout blanc né le 7 janvier 2006 ! C'est un mâle que j'ai batpisé "Kiway" (contraction de "Milky Way" en rapport à sa couleur, plus facile à dire que son nom de Pedigree "O Wata Tsu Mi" qui est sensé signifier "Dieu de la Mer" en japonais...), il est arrivé fin mai 2006 d'Australie accompagné de sa soeur rouquine "Onshu" pour une autre personne. Un grand merci à Janine Ali de l'élevage Shirakhan pour m'avoir gardé un chiot si exceptionnel ! Il est hyper-docile, calme, câlin et joueur, très obéissant mais un peu timide. 

  

   

While I was looking for the successors of Beauty and Wonder, I had the great luck to find a magnificient all-white pup born on the 7th of January 2006 ! It's a boy I called "Kiway" (contraction of "Milky Way" regarding his colour, easier to say than his Pedigree name "O Wata Tsu Mi" said to mean "God of the Sea" in japanese...), he arrived end of may 2006 from Australia with his light red sister "Onshu" for an other person. A great thankyou to Janine Ali from Shirakhan Akitas for holding on such an exceptionnal pup for me ! He's hyper-docile, quiet, cuddly and playful, very obedient but a bit shy. 

       

 

 

Kiway est plus petit que Wonder car plus trapu, mais pourtant aussi lourd : il pèse 40 kg et mange 500 g de croquettes haut de gamme par jour. Il vient de recevoir son certificat officiel pour la dysplasie des hanches et je suis fière d'avoir confirmation qu'il est aussi bon que Wonder et Rumba avec l'excellent score A !  Kiway smaller than Wonder because more square, but as heavy : he weighs 40 kg and eats 500 g of high quality dry food a day. He has just received his hip score certificate and I'm proud to have the prove that he's as good as Wonder and Rumba with the excellent score A !

 

 

Kiway s'entendait super bien avec Wonder et Rumba tant qu'il restait à sa place, mais vers l'âge de 9 mois il a commencé à provoquer Wonder en duel, depuis il fait chambre à part, dans la maison avec nous tant qu'il était tout seul, puis dans son enclos avec une copine bien à lui : Cristal (la fille de Wonder et Rumba)... He used to get on really well with Wonder and Rumba as long as he stepped back before them, but around the age of 9 month-old, he started to provock Wonder to fight, so from then on he stays away, in the house with us when he was alone, then in his yard with a girlfriend on his own : Cristal (Wonder and Rumba's daughter)...

Voici mon premier Akita mâle "Wonder" : il est arrivé de Nouvelle-Zélande en même temps que Beauty fin mai 2005 à l'âge de 13 mois juste après avoir décroché son titre de Champion de NZ ! Un grand merci à Karen Bell, de l'élevage Christabell, de m'avoir transmis un jeune chien si prometteur ! Here is my first male Akita "Wonder" : he arrived from New Zealand at the same date as Beauty end of may 2005 at the age of 13 months shortly after he was titled NZ Champion ! A big thankyou to Karen Bell, from Christabell Akitas, for having transmitted such a promising young dog to me ! 

 

Wonder a été qualifié de "1er Excellent" de sa catégorie (Open mâle) à l'exposition multi-race de la Foire de Bourail le 13 août 2005. Voici ce que Monsieur le juge Médard-Ringuet a dit de lui lors de sa présentation : "Excellent aspect général, superbe tête bien masquée, excellent articulé avec dentition complète, excellente ossature et aplomb du pied, excellentes proportions hauteur-largeur-profondeur, excellent port de fouet, mouvement conventionnel, dos bien tendu, superbe caractère pour un Akita Américain." Wonder has been qualified "1st Excellent" of his class (open male) at the multi-breed dog show of Bourail on August the 13th 2005. Following is what the judge Mr Médard-Ringuet said about him when showed : "Excellent general appearance, beautiful masked head, excellent and complete adult teeth, excellent bone and foot angulation, excellent height-width-depth proportions, excellent tail carriage, conventionnal movement, good straight backline, wonderful temperament for an American Akita."

Wonder a également obtenu le titre de "Meilleur de Race" le 23 avril 2006 à Nouméa sous le juge multirace Maurice Hermel. Wonder est un gros nounours très câlin, envahissant et curieux. Adorable avec les humains et doux avec les enfants, il sait contrôler sa force et être à l'écoute. A la fois très obéissant et très intelligent, il sait ruser pour arriver à ses fins il ne faut donc pas le sous-estimer ! Très protecteur et territorial, il ne laisse entrer personne lorsqu'on est absent mais accueille chaleureusement nos visiteurs quand on est là pour lui montrer qu'ils sont les bienvenus ! Très dominant, il cherche systématiquement la bagarre avec les chiens qu'il ne connait pas : il provoque les gros chiens pour leur montrer qu'il est le plus fort et chasse les petits chiens comme des proies ! Je le promène donc toujours en laisse pour arrêter ses élans machos ! Il pèse 40 kg et mange 500 g de croquettes haut de gamme par jour divisés en deux repas, matin et soir. C'est un délicat, il mange très lentement (il risque pas de se faire empoisonner lui !) et entre 1 an et 3 ans il lui arrivait souvent de bouder ses croquettes. Alors je rusais en ajoutant "du goût" tel que du riz, ou de la sauce de cuisson, un oeuf, du thon ou du fromage, des morceaux de viande ou de poulet rôti (il fallait varier car Monsieur se lassait rapidement) pour qu'il daigne y toucher ! J'ai essayé pas mal de croquettes et pâtées de différentes marques qu'il aimait pendant un certain temps, mais les pâtées lui donnaient la diarrhée et les croquettes "pas chères" rendaient son poil sec et fragile, c'est vraiment les croquettes haut de gamme qui lui réussissent le mieux : son poil est brillant et ses crottes fermes, comme quoi, le prix est vraiment gage de qualité ! Et maintenant il mange vraiment bien sans se plus se faire prier, il commence enfin à prendre un peu de poids (il pesait à peine 40 kg alors qu'il pourrait en faire 50 avec son gabarit !)... Du coup, j'ai mis mes quatre chats Kanis, Chaz, Dora et Bagheera aux croquettes haut de gamme aussi car, étant stérilisés, ils commençaient à se ramollir et prendre du ventre : ils sont maintenant plus sveltes et dynamiques que jamais !

 

 

       

Wonder is a big teddy bear very cuddly, invading and out-going. Lovely with humans and gentle with children, he knows how to behave himself and is a real good listener. Being both very obedient and very intelligent, he can be very clever to get what he wants, so we should never under-estimate him ! Very protector and territorial, he never allow anyone to come in where nobody's home, but dearly welcomes our visitors when we're home to show him they are actually welcome ! Very dominant, he always seek the fight with dogs he doesn't know : he provokes the big ones to show how strong he is and hunt the small ones as if they were preys ! Therefore I always take him out on leash to stop his macho manners ! His weight is 40 kg and he eats 500 g of high quality dry food a day divided in two meals, morning and evening. He is a slow eater and very picky (no chance to be poisoned this one !) and between 1 and 3 year-old he had to be encouraged to finish his plate : he would often go off his feed so I used to add "taste" like rice or cooking oil, tuna, egg or cheese, piece of meat or cooked chicken (that must change or Mister get bored) so that he would eventually go back to eat ! I did try several dry and canned foods of different brands he liked to eat but canned food would give him diarrhea and cheap dry food would make his coat dry and fragile, only high quality dry foods is actually the best for him: his coat is shiny and his droppings firm. As far as I'm concerned, price is really standing for quality ! And now he does eat it really well and starts at last to put on weight (he was hardly weighing 40 kg whereas he could be 50 with his size !)... Therefore I also put my four cats Kanis, Chaz, Dora and Bagheera on high quality dry food as, being neutered, they started to be lazy and have a big belly, and now they're more fit and dynamic than ever !

  

   

Wonder est certifié exempt de dysplasie de la hanche (Score A).
