ELEVAGE DE LUDSYGA

Après le départ de ses chiots, Beauty n'est plus que l'ombre d'elle-même, ayant perdu sa belle fourrure et son imposante carrure ! Mais elle se refait une santé petit à petit... Wonder par contre est en pleine forme : il gagne même le prix de "Meilleur de Race" à l'exposition canine de Nouméa le 23 Avril, jour de son 2e anniversaire ! Quant à moi, je deviens entraineur-driver de Trotteurs Français à Dumbéa et participe à ma première course le 13 mai à Bourail ! C'est génial ! Enfin, le même jour, Lady reviens de Bourail à nouveau pleine de Basic et entame une deuxième longue gestation : la naissance est prévue pour début mars 2007...

After the departure of her pups, Beauty is only half of what she used to be : she has lost both her thick coat and her impressive look ! But she gets over it progressively... Wonder on the other hand is more magnificient than ever : he even won the "Best of Breed" title at the canine show of Noumea on the 23rd of April, date of his 2nd birthday ! As for me, I become a driver-trainer of French Trotters at Dumbéa and drive in my first race on the 13th of May at Bourail ! It's delighting ! At last, the same day, Lady comes back from Bourail pregnant of Basic again and starts off a second long pregnancy : the foaling is due early March 2007...

   

   

    

  

Les chiots grandissent si vite : à 4 mois ils pèsent déjà près de 20 kg ! Bonnie a même grandi un peu trop vite et a eu une faiblesse au niveau des pattes arrières mais qui s'est rapidement arrangée après une petite cure de calcium et plus d'exercice, Shogun a les oreilles qui traînent un peu à se dresser mais c'est en bonne voie, Patsy affirme sa position de dominante parmis les autres chiens de la famille, Lilou a une oreille droite mais l'autre encore tombante et son nez n'est pas encore entièrement noir tout comme Shogun, enfin Bimbo se fait ses nouvelles dents sur tout ce qui traîne ! Comme pour tous les chiots, la première année n'est pas toujours facile, malgré tout ils sont adorables et leurs maîtres sont ravis de les avoir !

The pups are growing so fast : at 4 month-old they are already weighing almost 20 kg ! Bonnie has grown up a bit too fast though and has got a weakness at the hindlegs ligaments but that should fix up with time, Shogun is a bit late with his ears still not getting up but they're on their way, Patsy is showing her dominant status to all the other family dogs, Lilou has got one ear up but the other still down and her nose is still not entirely black just like Shogun's, at last Bimbo is testing her new teeth on every items lying around ! As for every pups, the first year is not alway easy, however they are lovely and their owners are just delighted to have them !

   

  

   

  

Beauty s'est rapidement remise de sa portée : fin mai elle est à nouveau impressionnante avec son épaisse fourrure soyeuse, sa grosse tête et ses grosses pattes, on dirait un ours ! Wonder par contre a eu un accident lors d'une balade en montagne avec les chevaux : il s'est malencontreusement pris un coup qui lui a crevé l'oeil gauche ! Heureusement il n'a rien eu d'autre (le coup aurait pu lui fracasser le crâne !) mais son pauvre oeil est bel et bien crevé et il ne verra très certainement plus jamais de cet oeil-là... Pour l'instant la cicatrisation se passe bien, Wonder n'a pas l'air gêné le moins du monde, il se comporte exactement comme avant, jouant avec Beauty et tout aussi fringuant en balade sans jamais se prendre un pôteau ! Malgré tout je dois surveiller ça de près car l'oeil est fragile et les soins intenses, ça peut dégénérer à tout moment... Ca avait beau très bien se passer avec les chevaux, un mauvais coup peut toujours surprendre et les accidents arrivent vite, c'est bête mais ça arrive, il faut faire avec et essayer d'être plus prudent à l'avenir...

Beauty is now totally back to herself : she is impressive again with her thick and soft coat, her big head and strong legs, she looks like a bear ! Wonder on the other hand had an accident when hacking out in the mountains with the horses : he has sadly been kicked and it tore his left eye open ! Thanks God he's got nothing too serious (the kick could have broken his skull !) but his left eye is dead and he will certainly never see from this eye again... For the moment the healing is good, Wonder doesn't look any disturbed, he behaves just like before, playing with Beauty and running out as usual without ever bumping into anything ! However I must keep monitoring it closely as the eye is sensible and the cares intense, it can turn bad at any time... Even if it was going on really well with the horses, a kick can always strike in surprise and accidents happen quickly, it's sad but it does happen, we must do with it and try to be more careful next time...

   

    

  

Pour mon 23e anniversaire, j'ai reçu le plus beau des cadeaux d'Australie : un chiot Akita Américain de 5 mois tout blanc ! Il est arrivé avec sa soeur (pour une autre personne) et après 5 jours de quarantaine, Kiway (contraction de "Milky Way" !) est enfin à la maison ! Il est adorable, un peu timide mais très câlin, il s'éclate avec Lilou (que je garde 3 semaines car ma famille est partie en vacances) et il est gentil avec les chats, mais Beauty et Wonder le voient d'un mauvais oeil... Ils sont donc séparés, chaque couple dans son carré de jardin : les jeunes sur la terrasse, les adultes dans leurs niches, mais ils recoivent le même amour et le même nombre de balades de ma part (une balade le matin et une le soir pour chaque couple) !

For my 23rd birthday, I received the best present from Australia : a pure white 5 month-old American Akita pup ! He arrived with his sister (for another person) and after 5 days quarantine, Kiway (nickname from "Milky Way" !) is home at last ! He is lovely, a bit shy but very cuddly, he's having great times with Lilou (who I'm boarding home for 3 weeks as my family has gone on holidays) and is nice with the cats, but Beauty and Wonder don't like him very much yet... So they are separated, each couple in its part of the garden : the youngsters on the veranda, the adults in their dog houses, but they receive as much love and number of run-outs from me (one run-out in the morning and one in the evening for each couple) !

     

   

 

   

Enfin, Lilou est rentrée chez elle et Kiway se sentait tout seul sur la terrasse, on lui a donc permit l'accès à la maison pour qu'il soit plus près de nous et il le mérite bien : c'est un ange, il est super calme, ne fait pas de bêtise et obéit au doigt et à l'oeil (enfin presque !). Du coup il est super copain avec les chats avec qui il partage la maison et la terrasse, il dort au pied du lit et ne nous quitte pas d'une semelle quand on est à la maison ! Beauty et Wonder l'acceptent beaucoup mieux : ils se font la fête le matin quand je viens dire bonjour à tout le monde, et ils se croisent sans broncher quand je les emmène chacun leur tour en balade, Wonder est plus gentil avec Kiway que ne l'est Beauty, mais elle s'adoucit de jour en jour... L'oeil de Wonder est à présent totalement cicatrisé, après avoir été rose et bleu, son oeil gauche est à présent plutôt gris et marron, ce qui fait qu'on ne voit pas la différence entre les deux yeux de loin ! Et ça ne l'handicape absoluement pas, il joue toujours aussi vigoureusement avec Beauty et l'a même saillie toute une semaine alors qu'elle était en chaleurs fin juin ! Donc nouvelle naissance prévue pour fin août si tout va bien...

Finally, Lilou went back home and Kiway was feeling lonely on the veranda, so we allowed him to enter the house so that he can be closer to us and he really deserves it : he's a true angel, super quiet, no naughty behaviour and obeys to finger and eye (well, almost !). Since, he's a big friend of our cats with whom he shares house and veranda, he sleeps at the bed's feet and is stuck to us when we're home ! Beauty and Wonder better accept him : they greet each other in the morning when I come and say hi to everybody, and they pass by each other with no aggressivity at all, Wonder is even friendlier with him than Beauty, but she gets kinder every day... Wonder's eye is now totally healed, after having been pink and blue, it's now grey and brown, so you cannot see the difference between the two eyes from a distance ! And it's not at all handicaping him, he plays as vigorously as before with Beauty and even mate with her for a whole week as she was in season at the end of june ! So a new litter is due end of august if everything goes well...
